Spellbound

This week has been fucking exhausting. He'd been consuling all week and dealing with a threat over in Norway. Somebody trying to brew mind control potions, again. Why couldn't everybody just get along and stop fussing? He's finally back home, in England, heading up the wizarding council while they go over worldwide news, and he gets an invite - no, it isn't that. It's more of a demand, from King Pendragon.

He's a bit tired, really, and didn't feel like dealing with it. "Not now, thank you. Politely decline, for me?" He told the runner. "Send him some magical candy."

He just wanted to go home and finish his book, thank you. He didn't ask for these powers, but if he took a holiday the world would flip out. People held him in high regard for some reason - he wasn't that wise, or old. He was just a young man trying to do right. Yet somehow the King was demanding his presence.

When Merlin comes out of the bathroom, Arthur picks up his clothes and fetches one of his most discret servants to clean them. "Do you need anything else, Merlin?" He closes the door again after having dropped off the clothes.

Maybe a few intermittent tags in between finals lol<3

"No, Arthur, thank you. I'm fine."

lol you go and focus on your finals! I'm here all day ;)

"Okay." Arthur hovers by the door to the guest room, feeling a little awkward. "Then, uhm, good night."

But you're more fun! And I need a bit of a mind break between them lol

"Good night." Merlin smiles wryly. "My lord." He's teasing, of course.

Arthur chuckles, closing the door behind Merlin. He's tired himself after having had a very long day. He quickly changes into his pyjamas, trying not to dwell too much on his guest as he slips into bed.

Merlin is still asleep at about 10 the next morning. He slept like the dead, absolutely exhausted. The bed Arthur had let hik sleep in felt like Heaven.

Arthur himself is up by 7am as usual. Merlin's clothes lie in a bag in front of his door, freshly cleaned and Arthur takes them inside. By half past ten, Arthur goes to knock loudly on the door of the guest bedroom. "Merlin?"

Merlin groans unintelligibly, not wanting to wake up.

The groaning tells Arthur that Merlin is still alive. Chuckling, he opens the door and steps into the guest room. "Merlin? It's almost eleven."

[ayoungboy]

"Mmph..." Merlin mumbles, hugging the pillow into his face. No, he wasn't going to be making this easy.

[royalpratness]

"Merlin." Arthur steps next to the bed, pulling the covers away from him. "I've got a meeting to attend. I'm not sure the Prime Minister of Spain likes to be kept waiting."

Merlin was still half asleep, and with a wave of magic, the covers fought back to yank themselves back over his body.

"Hey! That's cheating." Arthur complains, frowning down at him while considering his options. "Don't you have anywhere to be? I thought you're so important."

[ayoungboy]

Merlin finally cracks an eye open, frowning at Arthur. "Mmph. Tired."

[royalpratness]

"Yes, I gathered that much, Merlin." Arthur grins down at him in amusement. "I mean, if you want, you're welcome to stay here. I just thought that you'd be needed elsewhere." He gestures towards his own room. "I saved some breakfast for you."

[ayoungboy]

Merlin sighs and nods, dragging his head up from the bed. "No...you're right, I probably am. I should...go."

[royalpratness]

"I'm glad to see that you slept well." Merlin had obviously needed a good night's rest. "Have some breakfast first though. Oh and don't forget the phone." The reason he came by in the first place.

[ayoungboy]

"Arthur, you've provided me with enough." Merlin shakes his head, hair mussed from sleep. "Thank you."

[royalpratness]

"Sorry Merlin, but an overnight stay in the royal antechambers comes with mandatory breakfast. No protest allowed I'm afraid."

[ayoungboy]

The warlock sighs, smiling despite himself. "I...thanks, your Highness."

[royalpratness]

"Come on then, Merlin. Breakfast." He tosses a fluffy bath robe at him, gesturing to follow.

[ayoungboy]

Merlin laughs and gently sets aside the robe, sliding out of the bed. He doesn't need it, Arthur's already let him borrow clothes, why dirty anything else? Just more work for his launderers.

[royalpratness]

Arthur has already left the room, preparing some tea for both of them. "How's your head?"

[ayoungboy]

"It was fine last night, it's fine now." Merlin teases, carefully moving in to sit. "No, but really, thank you for letting me sleep here."

[royalpratness]

"Stop thanking me. I've told you, it's fine." Arthur hands him a freshly brewed cup of tea, along with his new mobile phone. "Do you know how these work?"
